The
Rehabilitation of the Ancestral House |
The Staircase |
The staircase is an addition. It replaced what was once a dirty kitchen and rickety wooden staircase that ended into a few concrete steps curving inward at the bottom. The design uses elements from the old house design -- the fence grill work and posts and the grooved cement works. The room to the right used to be the katiwala's and servers' room for sundry kitchen preparation needs. The sliding door was recycled from two balcony/bedroom doors. |
